The Next Story

I’m so close to being done The Ronos Trilogy. Later this year you will know the complete story, from tragic beginning to epic end. This will be the first time I have ever written The End on a complete story. This is the first time you are going to see what kind of ending me and my characters can pull off. Once I’m done you can sit back in your chair and smile knowing you don’t have to wait a year or more to find out what happens next. There is no next.

Well, no next for whoever survives The Ronos Trilogy. But there is a next for me as an author.

What story am I going to write next?

For the first time since I decided it’s time to write a book, I have a clean slate and can write absolutely anything that I want. No obligations or loose ends to tie up. What am I going to choose?

Well, I don’t think I want to do a series, not right away anyway. If you remember before christmas I said that I wanted to finish two books before the middle of June. The first one was book 3.

The second one has the working title of Marketable to Middle Aged Mormon Moms. It’s a family drama and completely different from The Ronos Trilogy. I had a good chunk of it written but I don’t think I’ll be using much of that besides character names. There characters have been fleshed out and I have the major plot points but it needs to be completely redone. So today I started over at 0 words.

Starting over used to be intimidating but now I know how awesome it can make the story. Book 3 was restarted almost three times and it’s amazing now.

My deadline also shifted. It moved from the middle of June to May 20ish. I don’t know the exact day (for reason that will remain a secret until the event occurs) but I hope it’s not any earlier than May 20th. That means I have to do more writing each day. My previous daily word count was a very manageable 650 words a day. To meet my new deadline I need to write 1020 words a day (If you’re checking my math I’m planning on a 50,000 word book and I don’t write on Sundays). That’s still in the realm of doable but I’ll have to stick to it or I will fall quickly behind schedule.

The most exciting thing about all of this is that in nine or so weeks I’ll be done another draft and I’ll be planning on what to write next. There’s always something new around the corner when you’re a writer. I’m excited for what’s coming next.

  1. Well done! It’s always so exciting to start with something new. All the best. 🙂

    • Didn’t notice you commented until just now. Haha.
