NaNoWriMo 2014

Yeah, I’m not doing it.

Don’t fret—I could see you fretting over there—I’m not saying I’m going to stop writing. I’m saying that I’m not gunning for 50k for November. My deadline has already been self imposed for both my projects—June 21.  The math has been done and if I do 650 words every day but Sunday I’ll easily make my deadline.

The biggest reason I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year is because I need to focus on quality instead of quantity this draft. If I can get 650 good words instead of 2000 quick words then I’m further ahead. I do not want to start over at zero words again.

I love NaNoWriMo. It’s a fun time and there are a ton of cool writers out there to get to know this month. Normally I would be all over this with a new story to pound out a quick first draft but that’s not the stage I’m at this year. Maybe next year. Hopefully next year. Because it really is a lot of fun.
