It’s time to start the next round of rewrites for book 2 in the Ronos trilogy. Over the holidays I got my manuscript back with a whole bunch of notes all over it and now I need to do some polishing. Those sticky marks you see represent big changes that I need to make. There’s a lot of them. If you notice I started out using pink and then ran out and had to use orange.
The great thing about these changes is that the story isn’t changing. It just needs a little bit of refining. I haven’t read every single note but it looks like the two biggest changes are going to be at the beginning and the end. The beginning is just rewriting for timing and continuity. The stuff I’m rewriting at the end is to make some of the characters lives worse. Apparently there wasn’t enough antagonism. So now I get to go back and make them even more miserable which is one of the fun parts of writing. I’m not sure what that says about me.
I can’t wait for you guys to read this book.if everything goes as planned it should be out late summer this year. Hopefully my plan to rewrite at the beginning of the semester while its slow pays off other wise I’ll be scrambling in may to rewrite is and get it to an editor. I can’t work too hard in May cause Iron Man 3 is coming out and if it rocks I might have to see it ten or twelve times.
