The lack of blog posts is because of NaNoWriMo. Please forgive me. If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is just click here.
Three NaNoWriMo goals
My three NaNoWriMo goals this year were to finish all 50k words (of course), go beyond that and write as many words as it takes to finish my book, and to get comfortable writing 10k words a day.
So how am I doing at that? I have 28k and I’m close to a third through my book. At this point I don’t really have a choice but to write 10k a day.
The biggest thing standing in my way is work. I’m poor and I need money. I also don’t work on Sundays. That leaves 6 days of writing. If I write 10k each of those days then my book will be 90k long.
That’s an insane number. I have never written that much in such a short amount of time. Plus, I’m not sure that 90k is enough. This book is the last book in the trilogy. Awesome things are happening. Story lines are closing. People are dying. Lovers are reunited…kind of (not sure why I’m teasing you because most of you don’t know the characters. That tease was for my mom and the rest of my family who have the courage to read early drafts).
Progress So Far
Before I could start book three I had to finish book two. I spent the first week and a half of NaNoWriMo doing that. Then I started in on my crazy 10k a day fix. The first day went well. The second day went okay and the third day fizzled out and I sat there cross-eyed at the computer screen all day.
But I’m not discouraged. I have reevaluated my strategies and I’ll be testing them out this week. I think they will work and when they do I’ll post them so that you can be cool like me and do 10k a day with ease.
By the way. You might already be doing it because I’m actually not a very fast typer and I’ve seen some crazy word counts on the Twitter.
Word Count Updates
Lately all I’ve been using twitter for is to update how many words I’ve written in the last half hour or so. That and complaining about the lines at the Secret Walmart. I’m sorry if you find these annoying. I love reading other people’s word counts on Twitter. Some of them are freakishly high. Also, seeing so many people with awesome word counts is inspiring to me. It’s why November is such an easy month to write in. If thousands of other people on the internet can do it then so can I.
Now stop reading this and get back to work!
But come back in December for more awesome writing news.
